When this tool is useful
When a supplier sends a revised contract, drawing note or procedure, the most important question is often what changed. Two files may look nearly identical while containing different words, numbers or page counts.
Choose the original and the revised version
Keep both PDF files and identify which is the older version. Naming them clearly—such as Procedure-v1 and Procedure-v2—helps avoid comparing the wrong pair.
WRKDOCS Compare Two PDFs displays the chosen page of each document side by side, and it compares selectable text tokens from up to 50 pages on each side.
Review revisions systematically
- Open the PDF comparison tool and choose the original PDF and the revised PDF.
- Compare the same page number in both files. Move through pages that contain important revisions.
- Inspect the comparison notes and visually check numbers, tables, logos, images, signatures and spacing before approving the changes.
Understand what automated comparison cannot confirm
Selectable-text comparison does not establish that two documents are visually identical. Scanned pages may contain only images, and changes to fonts, colors or drawing geometry may not appear as text differences.
For regulated records or safety-critical drawings, use the browser comparison as a first review step—not as a replacement for your formal document-control or engineering approval process.
These instructions describe the tools available on WRKDOCS. Always inspect the exported result before relying on it for important work.
